Our Philosophy:
St. Joseph's Catholic School is dedicated to providing students with a superior religious and academic education. St. Joseph's recruits and secures professional teachers, staff, and administration that are dedicated to academic excellence.
Our school community firmly believes that we are all created in God's image and are all children of God. We actively participate in the Profession of Faith and emphasize the central importance of the Eucharistic celebration, the Liturgy of the Word, and the celebration of the sacraments. We teach our students the value of morality and prayer. We instruct our students to follow the gospel and to be open to the will of God. Student learning, in a Catholic environment, is our primary focus.
To maintain excellence, St. Joseph's provides a supportive, challenging, nurturing, and Safe Learning Environment, where every child is accepted as a unique, valuable, and gifted individual. St. Joseph's provides a Basic Curriculum which assists and encourages students to reach their highest possible academic, social, emotional, and spiritual potential, and which prepares students to confidently enter academic or vocational, post-secondary educational programs. This curriculum is aligned with the State of Idaho Educational Standards and reflects the integration of current educational standards, along with the integration of contemporary educational practices, including the practice of differentiated instruction.
Our teachers, staff, and administration insure the Maintenance of Classroom Discipline by promoting mutual respect and safety. Our staff teaches Responsible Citizenship through instruction and example. The central importance of work is emphasized as we instruct children in the Basic Values of honesty, self-discipline, unselfishness, and respect for authority. St. Joseph's grounds this emphasis in daily participation in religious education, weekly celebrations of the Eucharist, and extensive staff training in catechesis and in current educational practice and philosophy in order to motivate children to make appropriate choices on their own.
Our students are taught valuable Communication Skills by emphasizing development in all the language arts based on phonemic instruction and the use of assessment and intervention teaching strategies. All children at St. Joseph's are encouraged to express their individuality and knowledge through the use of these skills.
At St. Joseph's, we recognize that our technological world is ever-advancing, and that it is critical to the success of our students as they enter the work force that we teach them skills that will take them beyond their educational experience. Therefore, Work Force Skills are taught, and instruction and access to Current Technology are provided, giving them everyday exposure to and experience with technically based delivery systems. This, combined with our instruction in communication and our emphasis on responsibility and self-directed achievement, prepares our students to be valuable and knowledgeable contributors to the modern adult workforce.
At St. Joseph's, our school community works together to attain a common goal of recognizing and sharing God's presence in all people. Students and staff at St. Joseph's enjoy an atmosphere in which all members recognize their human value, cultivate and practice their talents, celebrate their successes, and challenge their potential. Our school provides students with the expectation that St. Joseph's students can always realize the best that is in them and with the encouragement they need to succeed.
