"The promotion of the practice of stewardship is important for the mission of the Church and for the spiritual well-being of each individual Christian. Everyone benefits from the sacrificial gift one makes of his time, talent, and treasure."
- His Eminence Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger (now Pope Benedict XVI )
to His Excellency The Most Reverend James Patrick Keleher, S.T.D.
stewardship
(stü-ərd-ship): the careful and responsible management of something entrusted to one's care.
The future of St. Joseph’s has been entrusted to us and depends on each of to contribute our God-given gifts of time, talent and treasure. We, parents, alumni, parishioners, staff and communities of St. Joseph’s Catholic School along with St. John’s Cathedral Parish have a responsibility to give the gift of a Catholic education to the next generation.
Dedicated nuns and priests made the first investments in our Catholic schools decades ago. Working for next to nothing, they made Catholic education accessible to so many. Now that this less expensive resource has unfortunately nearly disappeared, it’s up to all of us to “pay it forward”. Because salaries for lay staff now account for over 80% of the budget of a Catholic school, in order to keep tuition as affordable as possible, we rely on donations of time, talent and treasure to enable our school to continue to provide an exceptional Catholic education to the children of our community.
Yes! I would like to share my God-given gifts of time, talent and/or treasure with the students of St. Joseph’s.
St. Joe’s is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Donations may be tax deductible.
Idaho Catholic Schools Tax Credit Program
A TRIPLE TAX BREAK!
The Idaho Education Tax Credit lets you
support Idaho Catholic Schools with dollars you
would otherwise pay on your Idaho Income Tax
Return. In addition, the normal charitable
deduction permits you to deduct the amount of
your contribution on your Federal Income Tax
Return as well as on your State Income Tax
Return if you itemize your deductions.
One-half of your contribution (up to $200 for
married persons and $100 for single persons)
is a STATE INCOME TAX CREDIT (e.g., if you are
married and pay $200 to the Idaho Catholic
Schools Tax Credit Program, you receive a $100
tax credit against your Idaho State Tax
liability). Your contribution is also FULLY TAX
DEDUCTIBLE on your Federal Income Tax Return and
on your Idaho State Income Tax Return if you
itemize your deductions. Depending upon your tax
bracket, your contribution could cost you very
little.
The Idaho State Tax Credit was specifically
designed by our lawmakers to help you support an
approved educational institution of your choice
in Idaho. If you have a tax consultant, discuss
this contribution with him/her or consult your
Idaho Income Tax Instructions. Click
here
for more information.
NOTE: If you do not itemize your
deductions then of course you cannot deduct the
contribution on your State and Federal Income
Tax Returns, but you may still qualify for the
credit on your Idaho Tax Return. Also the credit
limit applies to the total of all contributions
made to Idaho schools during the year. For more
information and a brochure please email
info@stjoes.com.
