"The promotion of the practice of stewardship is important for the mission of the Church and for the spiritual well-being of each individual Christian. Everyone benefits from the sacrificial gift one makes of his time, talent, and treasure."
- His Eminence Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger (now Pope Benedict XVI )
to His Excellency The Most Reverend James Patrick Keleher, S.T.D.
stewardship
(stü-ərd-ship): the careful and responsible management of something entrusted to one's care.
The future of St. Joseph’s has been entrusted to us and depends on each of to contribute our God-given gifts of time, talent and
treasure. We, parents, alumni, parishioners, staff and communities of St. Joseph’s Catholic School along with St. John’s Cathedral Parish have a responsibility to give the gift of a Catholic education to the next generation.
Dedicated nuns and priests made the first investments in our Catholic schools decades ago. Working for next to nothing, they made Catholic education accessible to so many. Now that this less expensive resource has unfortunately nearly disappeared, it’s up to all of us to “pay it forward”. Because salaries for lay staff now account for over 80% of the budget of a Catholic school, in order to keep tuition as affordable as possible, we rely on donations of time, talent and
treasure to enable our school to continue to provide an exceptional Catholic education to the children of our community.
