10.1.2020 Principal’s News

Good afternoon St. Joseph’s Families,

Happy Autumn to all! I do hope you have had a chance to get out and enjoy our beautiful fall weather. We are in our 7th week of school – and the end of first quarter is just around the corner.

Just a reminder, students do not have school tomorrow- Friday, October 2nd. Enjoy your long weekend.  Our teachers are attending the Catholic Educator’s Conference. We will have a religious retreat and attend classes to enrich our faith – all virtually of course!

Thank you to those of you who participated in the parent survey- we have had 100% participation. Your feedback is appreciated and continues to be considered as we progress through this unprecedented school year.

Fr. Mariusz and I have discussed the input from our St. Joseph’s community. I have also collaborated with Dr. Quilici and other Treasure Valley Catholic School principals. We have a faculty meeting today and I will be sending out an email to our families over the weekend on St. Joseph’s path for our students during the 2nd quarter of school.  I will include the data from the recent parent survey.

Faculty and Staff

We are looking for a middle school instructional assistant and a part time 3rd-5th instructional aide.  Please send me an email if you know of someone who might be a good fit for these positions. The jobs are posted on our school website.

COVID-19

In our 7th week of school, we have not had any students test positive for COVID-19. Praise God! Our families are doing the right thing keeping sick children home.

  • Current COVID tracking information for St. Joseph’s HERE.

We want to be able to continue our in person learning throughout the year and we need your help. We all need to practice the 3 W’s both in and out of school:

  • Wear a Mask – all people on our school campus must wear a mask
  • Wash your hands
  • Watch your distance when with others

School Requirements:

  • Wear a Mask – all people on our school campus must wear a mask

Just a reminder, we are trying to limit the number of people in the building. If possible, please drop things off at the front door and we will pick the items up. Thank you for your help with this.

Air Quality

We are monitoring our air quality hourly; students go to recess if the air quality is below 150. If we are in the red zone (unhealthy category), students do not go to recess or have outdoor PE.

Week of October 5th – 9th

Here is information for the 8th week of school:

  • Continue with our hybrid model – ½ students in morning and ½ in the afternoon.

When arriving and leaving school, please cross the street at the crosswalks – do not jay walk. Drop off and pick up times remain the same as the last few weeks. Please do not double park on the streets surrounding the school – this could cause a dangerous situation.

St. John’s Parish/School Connection

St. Joseph’s School and St. John’s Parish have a strong relationship. St. Joseph’s Catholic school is St. John’s Parish biggest ministry.

For those interested in becoming Catholic or receiving any of Sacraments. The deadline for enrollment is today – October 1, 2020.Please contact St. John’s Parish if you would like to learn more.

Please continue to support St. John’s Parish or your local parish – donations have decreased since the onset of COVID-19 and we need to help our Catholic Parishes out more than ever.
