Happy Thursday St. Joseph’s Families,
We have had a busy week here at St. Joseph’s – our students are busy learning about their faith, pursuing academic excellence and of course, having fun at recess!
Just a reminder, students do not have school on Friday, November 13th. This is a teacher workday – it will allow time for collaboration, planning, updating of grades, etc.; we are halfway through our second quarter.
COVID-19
In our 13th week of school, we have had three students test positive for COVID-19. We do have quite a few more students in quarantine this week. I will be sending an email this afternoon with more detailed information moving forward.
Current COVID tracking information for St. Joseph’s HERE.
- If your family has been exposed to someone with COVID-19, please keep all children home. If anyone in your family is being tested for COVID-19 keep all children home.
- If anyone in your immediate family is sick, please keep all children home from school.
- See Illness Decision Tree for Schools
We want to be able to continue our in person learning throughout the year and we need your help. We all need to practice the 3 W’s both in and out of school:
- Wear a Mask – all people on our school campus must wear a mask
- Wash your hands
- Watch your distance when with others
If your family travels (this means your school-age children are traveling with the family) out of state through January, we ask that you self-quarantine for three days following your return. I recognize that this is inconvenient, but we are trying to implement precautions to mitigate exposure to COVID-19. We will reevaluate this requirement in January.
Fund Raising
Last week, we sent a letter about fundraising in our current times. I had several questions about how to donate. You can write a check to the school, you can submit a payment online – the school pays a small transaction fee for this method, or you email Anita Miller an amount you would like to donate and it can appear on your bill – we can accept monthly payments if that helps.
Absences
Parents, please notify the front office if your child will be absent for any reason. We need this information to continue to track daily absence rates. Mrs. Granvall’s email is granvalla@stjoes.com
Dress Code
Just a reminder, after Thanksgiving break, shorts can no longer be worn. Our weather in Idaho is cold and students will be outside for recess.
Week of November 16th– November 20th
Here is information for the 14th week of school:
- Full, in-person learning Monday-Friday with staggered start and stop times.
Supervision will be available for those families with multiple children in differing grade levels.
School Mass
We had Mass on Tuesday morning with our 4th and 5th grade students attending in person. On Tuesday, November 17th, 2nd and 3rd grade students will attend in person. It is such a privilege and blessing to be able to pray and worship together Mass will be livestreamed and recorded for those students not attending in person. Mass dress is required for those attending Mass in person.
Here is the Mass Schedule for the next two weeks:
Tues – Nov 17 | 8:15 AM | 2nd and 3rd in Cathedral |
St. John’s Parish/School Connection
Please continue to support St. John’s Parish or your local parish – donations have decreased since the onset of COVID-19. We partnered with the parish to help fill the Box of Joy packages for children in need. St, Joseph’s community filled a little over 40 boxes. Thank you to those who participated – we appreciate your generosity.
Thank you for being a part of St. Joseph’s Catholic School. We are blessed to be able to work with your children.
Here is a prayer for all of us during trying times.
Please take care and God Bless.
Blessings,
Tammy Emerich
