Happy Thursday St. Joseph’s Families,

We have just finished our third week of the second quarter and our second week of full on-site learning. Teachers and students are adjusting to our new schedule – it is great that we are able to have most of our students back on campus. There is much learning and fun taking place – we are blessed to be able to work with your children.

Ms. Kimberly Anderson, our amazing art teacher, received KTVB’s Innovative Educator recognition. Congratulations!  We are so blessed to have such an amazing faculty. Check out her interview here: Mixed Media Teacher at St. Joe’s Makes Art Fun!

Just a reminder, students do not have school on Friday, November 13th. This is a teacher workday – it will allow time for collaboration, planning, updating of grades, etc.; we will be halfway through our second quarter.

As we celebrate holidays and birthdays, please remember that we cannot have outside treats brought into the school this school year. Thank you for understanding.

In our 12th week of school, we have had two students test positive for COVID-19.

Current COVID tracking information for St. Joseph’s HERE.

  • If your family has been exposed to someone with COVID-19, please keep all children home. If anyone in your family is being tested for COVID-19 keep all children home.

  • If anyone in your immediate family is sick, please keep all children home from school.

  • see Illness Decision Tree for Schools

We want to be able to continue our in person learning throughout the year and we need your help. We all need to practice the 3 W’s both in and out of school:

  • Wear a Mask – all people on our school campus must wear a mask

  • Wash your hands

  • Watch your distance when with others

If your family travels (this means your school-age children are traveling with the family) out of state through January, we ask that you self-quarantine for three days following your return. I recognize that this is inconvenient, but we are trying to implement precautions to mitigate exposure to COVID-19. We will reevaluate this requirement in January.

Parents, please notify the front office if your child will be absent for any reason. We need this information to continue to track daily absence rates. Mrs. Granvall’s email is granvalla@stjoes.com

Dress Code

Just a reminder, after Thanksgiving break, shorts can no longer be worn. Our weather in Idaho is cold and students will be outside for recess.

St. John’s Parish/School Connection

Please continue to support St. John’s Parish or your local parish – donations have decreased since the onset of COVID-19 and we need to help our Catholic Parishes out more than ever. Please help us fill the Box of Joy packages for children in need. We partnered with St. John’s Parish last year and surpassed all expectations. Please see the information in this week’s bulletin.

Thank you for being a part of St. Joseph’s Catholic School. We are blessed to be able to work with your children.

Here is a prayer after the election from the USCCB :

God of all nations,
Father of the human family,
we give you thanks for the freedom we exercise
and the many blessings of democracy we enjoy
in the United States of America.

We ask for your protection and guidance
for all who devote themselves to the common good,
working for justice and peace at home and around the world.

We lift up all our duly elected leaders and public servants,
those who will serve us as president, as legislators and judges,
those in the military and law enforcement.
Heal us from our differences and unite us, O Lord,
with a common purpose, dedication, and commitment to achieve liberty and justice
in the years ahead for all people, and especially those who are most vulnerable in our midst. Amen.
