3.19.20 School Information

Good afternoon St. Joseph’s Families,

During this school closure, we are committed to creating the best remote learning experience possible for our students and families. Our teachers are working hard to create systems and structures that will provide the greatest amount of support, leaning and engagement to students during this time. Our primary goal is to establish some normalcy and structure for our students, while maintaining academic growth. Our teachers have some mini-lessons they are presenting in various ways today and tomorrow as grade level appropriate. This is a good introduction to the Google Platform that most classes will be using. We will be instituting our distance learning plan on Monday, March 30th if we are instructed to continue our school closure.

There is a School Superintendents meeting on Thursday, March 26th – a decision will be made based on the recommendations of the CDC and federal and state governments whether or not we continue our school closure. We, as Treasure Valley Catholic Schools, will (as communicated earlier) be following the Boise School District on their district decision. I will notify our school community as soon as I know the outcome and decision made at that meeting. In the meantime, students will not be required to do school work over spring break – get outside and enjoy our spring weather!

In the event that we do remain closed during the week of March 30th – April 3rd, our teachers have distance learning plans prepared for that week.

Our current distance learning plan includes:

Distance Learning Plan outlining each student’s daily and/or weekly tasks

Weekly face-to-face or recorded video check-ins from teachers

Live weekly class gatherings using Google Classroom (3-8)

Weekly and, when needed, daily communication from teachers and principal

This plan will be evolving as needed to meet our students’ needs

Let’s continue praying for all those who have been severely impacted by Covid-19 and those in the medical field who are caring for them.

As we continue to navigate through these turbulent times, please  know that I am available via email for any questions you might have.

Take care and God Bless –

For Excellence in Catholic Education

Blessings,

Tammy Emerich
