Good afternoon St. Joseph’s Families,

We made it – HAPPY SUMMER!  We have had a great final week of celebrations and recognitions! On Monday, we had our middle school academic awards ceremony and National Junior Honor Society induction ceremony – I am so happy that we were able to recognize and show our appreciation for our students’ hard work. On Tuesday afternoon, we said good-bye to our 8th grade class at the Graduation Mass. It was a beautiful ceremony, and we wish our 8th grade students all the best and send them off with God’s blessing.

Class Placement for the 2021-2022 school year will be sent out the week of June 21st – please check your email.

In addition, we will do a final recap email and send out a parent survey to get your input on the 2020-2021 school year. Please look for this the week of June 7th.

Living our Faith

We will have our final Mass for the school year with all students present in the Cathedral. It is important that we end our year in thanksgiving and prayer! We will be socially distanced in the pews with 7 students in each pew spread out 3ft. Students will remain in their class groupings as they have done throughout the school year. Students will also wear masks as they have done throughout the year.

On June 6th, the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist is celebrating their Centennial! Come and share your Spirit with our parish community. The celebration is from 1:00-8:00 PM in the Cathedral parking lot. Please see more information and link to sign up to volunteer in the bulletin.

Academic Excellence

MAP scores are being sent home with your child today -Thursday. Please take a look at the MAP scores and let me know if you have any questions.  I am pleased with our overall school results. Our students continually score higher than the national average in Reading, Language and Math.

Middle school math placement email for next year’s 7th grade students will be sent on Friday, May 28th.

Summer Tutoring

Please reach out to Christy Porter at porterc@stjoes.com if you are interested in summer tutoring for your child. We have a list of St. Joseph’s teachers and staff who are available over the summer. The St. Joe’s faculty and staff are familiar with our academic curriculum and can look at our MAP data and help fill in learning gaps your child may have.

School Uniform

We have made a few changes to our school uniform for the 2021-2022 school year. Both boys and girls will be required to have our St. Joseph’s school logo on white shirts for Mass. In addition, all boys (K-8) will be required to wear a St. Joe’s plaid tie to Mass. Also, we have added the dri-fit option for polo shirts. Based on input by some of our middle school girls, we have lengthened our middle school uniform skirt to knee length. We have two uniform vendors, Educational Outfitters (local store here in Boise) and Land’s End.

COVID

I am very thankful for the efforts of all the St. Joseph’s Faculty, Staff, Students and Parents as we have navigated the COVID pandemic.  Here are the final tracking numbers for the 2020-2021 school year – these are numbers since 9/14/21.

Hiring for the 2021-2022 School Year

For the 2021-2022 school year, St. Joe’s will be hiring a music teacher, a 5th grade teacher (English, Social Studies, Religion), and a one full time and one part time instructional aide. We are no longer accepting applications and are interviewing for all positions this week.

Thank you for choosing St. Joseph’s Catholic School for your child’s education. We appreciate each of our families and are looking forward to a wonderful 2021-2022 school year. Wishing you all a fun-filled summer!

Blessings,

Tammy Emerich
