5.7.20 Principal’s News

Happy Thursday to all of our St. Joseph’s Families,

I want to wish all mom’s a Happy Mother’s Day! Being a mom is such a blessing – it is a difficult job but the most rewarding! Thank you to all moms for who you are and what you do – Here is a prayer for you.

Here is some great news: Working with Fr. Mariusz, we will be having an 8th grade graduation Mass on Tuesday, June 2nd at 1:00 PM and a tentative date for 2nd grade First Holy Communion on Saturday, June 27th at 5:00. I will be sending more specific information to our 8th grade and 2nd grade families tomorrow.

We would like to invite our families to Mass either in person or virtually on Tuesday, May 12th. St. John’s Cathedral opened up for Mass this past weekend- utilizing social distancing. They are thoroughly sanitizing the Cathedral for people’s safety. Deacon Derrick will be in attendance as well – he has been such a great influence and supporter of St. Joe’s this year.  I attended Mass this morning and felt so blessed to participate.

I have had the opportunity to attend more distance learning “classrooms” this week. I learned about water conservation in Mrs. Weaver’s 5th grade, poetry and writing in Mr. Yanci’s Class, The Mexican Hat Dance for Cinco de Mayo. Preparing for the week in Google Classroom in both 3rd grade classes, I got to listen to stories read by the teachers – I am so amazed by the student engagement our teachers are able to have in this virtual environment. I have felt God’s presence even in our virtual world!

On May 26, 27, 28, we will be having families come to the school to pick up student supplies and drop off any textbooks, library books and Chromebooks. We will do this in a safe manner and it will also be time to provide some closure to the school year. We will do this by last name in the alphabet so families only have to come to the school once.  I am finalizing what this will look like and will send it to you on Monday.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Take care and God Bless!

Blessings,

Tammy Emerich
