A celebration of all things great!

St. Joseph’s Catholic School has a lot for which to be proud!

Science Olympiad: Last weekend, most St. Joe’s 7th and 8th grade students competed in various events in the regional Science Olympiad competition at NNU (see the photo collage above).  St. Joe’s Team B16 won 1st place overall, and they will be traveling to Wisconsin in May to compete in the national Science Olympiad competition.   In total, St. Joe’s won: 13 bronze, 6 silver, and 11 gold medals. The students who competed, and their volunteer coaches, spent countless hours this winter in preparation for this event.  We are proud of their work and accomplishments!

Learn Storm: Last week was the final week of Khan Academy’s competition called Learn Storm.  The goal of Learn Storm was to get students to practice grit and perseverance with their learning.  St. Joe’s placed 4th in Hustle during the third cup.  Four St. Joe’s students earned invitations to a celebration in May with Sal Khan by placing in the top 3 during one of the three competition windows.

Peace Leaders: The Peace Leaders hosted Mass on Tuesday.  The Peace Leaders are positive role models on our campus, and they help set a good example for the younger students.  Peace Leaders are 7th and 8th students led by Mrs. Mora, our school counselor.  We will be recruiting Peace Leaders for next year in May.  We are also working to hire a full time counselor to support the needs of all of our students.

Parent volunteers: St. Joe’s had a successful Crab Feed.  Our school operates well, in part, due to to parent participation.  I am thankful to the Home and School Association (HSA) and to Liz Barry’s leadership.  HSA currently has a survey out regarding volunteer positions for next year; please take the time to complete it.  If you have not completed your 25 volunteer hours, be have the Father-Daughter dance this Saturday (April 9) and the Fun Run on May 13.  Thank you for your continued support of our school.
