Class Placement for 2017-18

It’s time to begin the process for class placement for the 2017-18 school year.  All of our teachers are wonderful, and through our weekly collaboration, we are working to make our classes even better.

1 Corinthians 12:12-14 “Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many.”

Classrooms are dynamic learning spaces made up of many different gifts and learning needs.  As we look toward next school year, creating the best environment in each classroom is one of our goals.  To achieve a balance in learning styles, learning needs, and social needs, we are going to follow the process below for placement:

Before spring break, parents will receive a green paper survey regarding their student’s needs.  The survey must be returned to the school by April 3, 2017.

In May, a team that knows all students in the building (principal, counselor, special teacher) will meet, and with parent and teacher input, and objective test scores place students into classes.  The goal of the process is to create a balance in each classroom that will help ensure the success of all students.

We plan to have lists available by the last day of school.  This process takes input from multiple sources into account because students behave differently in different situations.  Please trust that the team working on placement knows and cares about your student.  Our mission is to create the best learning environment for all 400 students who have been placed in our care, which is not an easy task.  Thank you for your patience and trust.
