Last year’s Fun Run was one of the best days of the school year! Students were excited to go outside and run around the block. At the end of the day, I had students ask when the Fun Run was going to be scheduled for this year. There was music, race bibs for all students (numbers), snacks, water stations, AND committed volunteers. The emphasis on the Fun Run is the FUN (celebrate the end of the year as a school in a healthy way) and the RUN (get students excited about physical activity.
Students have been bringing in their donations and earning tickets for prizes. There is NOT a matching donor this year, as stated on the packet, but we are grateful for any and all contributions that are coming into our school. I hope that several parents will come out and run with their students. I have plans to race a group of kindergarten boys!
The picture above is from a run that I took the 8th grade PE class two weeks ago. I got to visit with them about my journey to running and the importance of physical education in school. It was a great opportunity to spend time with the 8th grade students before they depart from St. Joe’s, and I hope they had fun (I had fun!).
Pray for good weather for the Fun Run (May 13) and Field Day (May 20). Encourage and support your children as they participate in these physical (and fun) activities.
