I just received my official email today to notify me of the acceptance of my registration for the 2016 Boston Marathon!
On January 1, 2013, I started a runstreak (that is running EVERY day, at least one mile). I reached 1,000 days on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2015. Prior to my runstreak, I had never run a marathon; I had not even thought about running a marathon. In the fall of 2013, I ran two marathons. I realized that I was close to being able to qualify for Boston. In the summer of 2014, I trained really hard, and I followed a very specific plan.
I ran Top of Utah Marathon on September 20, 2014 (just after I started my position as principal at St. Joe’s), and I qualified for Boston at that race. The past year has been one of waiting and wondering if I would be able to secure a spot this fall for next spring.
Some of you know that my sister is a meteorologist in Boston, and it is special that I will be be able to see her and her husband when I run this race.
Thank you for your support and encouragement! Keep running and working out; you never know when–or how–it will pay off.
