Principal’s News 01.09.20

Good afternoon St. Joseph’s Families,

Happy New Year! I so hope that you and your families had a wonderful Christmas and a fun and restful break!! We had a very productive in-service day on Monday – Joe Lombardo was gracious and did School Safety training for us on school safety utilizing the Idaho Standard Command Responses for Schools. Joe and I are working together and will be providing a school safety information night for parents later in the spring.

I will be posting second quarter report cards to our PlusPortals system tomorrow afternoon. In an effort to be environmentally responsible, we will not be printing report cards and sending them home. You will be able to access your child’s report card through their portfolio – I will send instructions on how to do this.

We are celebrating Catholic Schools Week January 21st – Sunday, January 26th. There are many events planned. We will have our all Catholic School’s Mass at Holy Apostles on Friday, January 24th. Our students will also host the St. John’s Parish Mass on Sunday, January 26th at 10:00 AM. Our student council, 3rd grade students, and choir will be serving at that Mass. We will send out a more detailed Catholic Schools Week calendar next week.

State of the School Address – Joe Forney, our school board chair, and I will be presenting on the state of St. Joseph’s Catholic School on January 28th at 6:00 PM. We will be discussing tuition/fees for the 2020-2021 school year, academic goals and performance.

A change to our school calendar – We are making a change to our school calendar as the date for the Hallissey Basketball Tournament has changed. The Hallissey Basketball Tournament is Friday, February 28th – Sunday, March 1st. As a result of this, we will have an early release on Friday, February 28th at 2:00. Students will not have school on Monday, March 2nd – we will have a teacher in-service that day.

At the end of next month, I will be sending a survey out to our families seeking information on our specials here at St. Joseph’s: art, music, PE, Spanish. The intent is to understand what our stakeholders value in Catholic Education here at St. Joseph’s. I will include middle school electives as well.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns – my door is always open.
