Principal’s News 10.17.19

Good afternoon St. Joseph’s Families,

I hope you have had some time to get out and enjoy the beautiful autumn weather we are having! Tomorrow is the end of 1st quarter and it is a ½ day with noon release. Tomorrow afternoon, teachers will be working to finalize quarter grades and prepare for parent/teacher conferences.

Our students are working hard in their classrooms and having a great time at recess. I so enjoy going to recess and observing the kids having a great amount of fun – it is wonderful to witness pure joy!!

We have parent/teacher conferences next week on Wednesday evening and again on Thursday during the day. This is a great way to continue our partnership with you as we all work to lift our students up and help them be successful!

Our middle school teachers will have open time for conferences:

  • Wednesday, October 23rd –  4:00 pm to 5:30 pm and 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm (30 minutes for dinner, 5:30-6:00)
  • Thursday, October 24th – 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm (30 minutes for lunch, 12:00-12:30)

Here are some questions you might consider asking at the conference:

  • How are my child’s learning skills?
  • At what does my child excel?
  • Is my student having any challenges?
  • How can we help at home?

I will be here at school during conferences as well, please feel free to stop by my office if you have any questions or concerns.

Thank you to those families who have picked up a Box of Joy to send to a child in need of a Christmas gift. We have handed out 45 boxes so far – there are still 25 boxes left.

Box of Joy Project – St. Joseph’s Catholic School is partnering with St. John’s Parish to deliver a Box of Joy to children who may not receive a present at Christmas. Box of Joy is a ministry of Cross Catholic Outreach. Boxes will include toys, schools supplies, hygiene items, etc. for boys and girls ages 1-14. Each box has specific information and suggestions for gifts – a $9 check should be included to help cover shipping to the destination country and to support Catholic ministries.

If you and your family would like to help us fulfill our goal, please come to the office and pick up a box. Boxes should be delivered back to the school by October 31st. The parish is in need of volunteers from Nov. 2nd – Nov. 10th to collect boxes – We will be sending more information on this volunteer opportunity.

Thank you for being part of St. Joseph’s Catholic School and making this a wonderful Catholic community!
