Principal’s Post 1.16.20

Happy Thursday St. Joseph’s Families,

We are celebrating Catholic Schools Week next week – January 21st – Sunday, January 26th. There are many fun events planned. Please see the schedule in the general newsletter. We will have our all Catholic School’s Mass at Holy Apostles on Friday, January 24th. Our students will also host the St. John’s Parish Mass on Sunday, January 26th at 10:00 AM. Our student council, 3rd grade students, and choir will be serving at that Mass.

Mark your calendars – State of the School Address – We had a very productive school advisory board meeting last evening. Important information was discussed and approved – please join us at the State of the School Address on January 28th at 6:00 PM to learn more. Joe Forney, our school board chair, and I will be presenting on the state of St. Joseph’s Catholic School. We will be discussing tuition/fees for the 2020-2021 school year, academic goals and performance.

I posted second quarter report cards to our PlusPortals system last Friday. You should have received an email with your child’s/children’s 2nd quarter report card. In an effort to be environmentally responsible, we will not be printing report cards and sending them home. You are able to access your child’s report card through their portfolio – Here are instructions on how to access them:

  1. Log in to your PlusPortals account
  2. Click on E-Locker in the blue band above your child’s name
  3. Click on the Blue Down arrow after Second Quarter Report Card

A change to our school calendar – We are making a change to our school calendar as the date for the Hallissey Basketball Tournament has changed. The Hallissey Basketball Tournament is Friday, February 28th – Sunday, March 1st. As a result of this, we will have an early release on Friday, February 28th at 2:00. Students will not have school on Monday, March 2nd – we will have a teacher in-service that day.

At the end of next month, I will be sending a survey out to our families seeking information on our specials here at St. Joseph’s: art, music, PE, Spanish. The intent is to understand what our stakeholders value in Catholic Education here at St. Joseph’s. I will include middle school electives as well.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns – my door is always open.

Thank you for your commitment to your child’s Catholic Education and being a part of our St. Joseph’s Catholic School community!

Blessings,

Tammy Emerich
