Principal’s Post 2.8.19

Mass

Thank you to Mrs. McClure and her students for their leadership with liturgy at Mass Tuesday.  This week we specifically pray for all those impacted by breast cancer. We thank all of you who joined us for Mass.   Please know, all are welcome each week.

2019-2020 Re-Enrollment for St. Joseph’s

This year, re-enrollment is done online.  We have sent the links out to the primary contact’s email.  We hope this is an easier process, and with more than ⅓ of you completing this already, we think it must be.  In order to know about openings for new families, re-enrollment is due Thursday, February 21.  Our open house for future and prospective families is Tuesday, February 26.  Open-enrollment for new families will also begin February 26. If you do not see a re-enrollment link in your email, please contact Mrs Granvall (granvalla@stjoes.com) right away, and we will send you another link.

We are so grateful and blessed to be near capacity with enrollment.  We thank all of you for your word-of-mouth recommendations for new families who continue to enroll here at St. Joseph’s Catholic School.

We also want to thank our community.  The past three years, families have seen increases in tuition from $300-$350 due to an effort to better retain and recruit quality staff.   Many teachers were making much less than counterparts in the Boise School District. Three years later, we have made great progress with teacher pay.

For the 2019-2020 school year, tuition will increase $50 (Catholic $4,790 and non-Catholic $6,138).  Fees will increase $75 ($50 for books and curriculum and $25 for technology). This is a total increase of $125 for the 2019-2020 school year.

As we begin to finish this school year, we will continue to plan and prepare to best serve your families next year too.

Dogs on Campus

With our warmer than typical winter weather, many have been tempted to bring their furry friends to school at release time.  We want to remind everyone that if you bring your dog(s), to keep dogs outside of the school and out on the sidewalks (away from the main entrance).  We have students and adults with allergies and fears of dogs, and we have dogs leaving messes inside and outside of the school.  We appreciate your help with this.

St. John’s Stairway to Heaven

Thank you to everyone who contributed during Catholic Schools Week to the St. John’s Stairway to Heaven collection.  Students, staff, and parents donated $2,295.67.  That means with the match, the total donation will be $4,591.34.

Student Safety

See something, say something.  I would like to remind and urge everyone if you see something out of place, please report it to the Office as soon as possible.  It is much better to be safe and say something than to worry about it.

For information on our current terminology and practice, please refer to our

Safety Parent Letter.
