Congratulations and a job well done to Mrs. Watanabe’s first grade class for their leadership with Mass.  Thank you to everyone who joined us for Mass Tuesday. All are always welcome to Mass, and we hope to pack St. John’s yet again at the 8th Grade Graduation Mass Tuesday, May 29 at 1 pm.

Spring Concert

Thank you to Mr. Aspiri and Mrs. Moody for their leadership with our Music classes and the Spring Concert.  Congratulations and a job well done to all of our students who participated! We had more than 300 students involved with 20 songs in an hour and a half program.  

National Junior Honor Society

Next Tuesday, after Mass the National Junior Honor Society Inductees and returning members will be recognized. National Junior Honor Society criteria are:

  • Scholarship: 3.75 gpa for the quarters 1-3 of the current school year
  • Service
  • Leadership
  • Character
  • Citizenship

Bishop Kelly Parish Support Subsidy

Parents with students attending Bishop Kelly.  If you are active members of a Parish in the Treasure Valley, you need to complete and submit the form found on the following link by June 30, 2018.  We appreciate all of the support from the parishes, specifically St. John’s. Each parish pays $650 to Bishop Kelly for this subsidy. St. John’s supported Bishop Kelly with nearly $57,000 last year.  Link to Form

Fun Run

Thank you to the numerous volunteers and donors to the annual St. Joseph’s Fun Run.  The weather was great, and the environment was electric: Gold Medalist Kristin Armstrong motivating on the bullhorn, Mrs. Carlson running and high fiving, Mr. Gillis and his Superman outfit, and many who jumped in and ran with their kids, cheering, and high fiving along the course.

Class Placement Information

Parents, thank you for your feedback.  We have collected and reviewed your input and begun the class placement process.  This year, class placement will be shared after school gets out. The placement in June is subject to change should enrollment change.  The goal for class placement is to balance classes and create the best learning environment possible for all involved. We thank you for your parental feedback.  The parent information forms are due back to the school Monday, May 7.

MOSS (Attention current 5th grade parents)

Next school year, our dates for MOSS have shifted to September 10-14.  We need to get chaperone volunteers in now as the trip will happen after just three weeks of school.  In order to offer this great opportunity we must have parents volunteer to chaperone Please complete the following form so we can get an idea about number of willing chaperones and our ability to offer this experience for the sixth grade students next school year.  Link to MOSS Fall 2018 Form

St. John’s Endowment Scholarship

St. John’s Cathedral is pleased to announce the establishment of a new scholarship fund for St. John’s Parishioners!

The St. John’s Scholarship Endowment will award three (3) one-time $500 scholarships for St. John’s Cathedral Parishioners. Money can be used toward tuition and fees at St. Joseph’s Catholic School (grades 1-8), Bishop Kelly High School (grades 9-12), or any accredited post-secondary education (University of Idaho, College of Western Idaho, technical and vocational schools, etc.). Three (3) $500 scholarships will be awarded for the 2018-19 academic year.

Scholarships will be awarded based on: Personal and family involvement at St. John’s Cathedral, academic achievement, and financial need. Scholarship money will be directed to the appropriate school for the recipient.

The St. John’s Scholarship Endowment is funded by contributions from the children’s weekly giving baskets and the generosity of St. John’s parishioners.
