Thank you to Mr. Yanci and his 5th grade students for their leadership with Mass.  We continue to dedicating our year to St. John the Evangelist as our model saint because of is his foundation in the Church and our partnership with St. John’s Cathedral Parish.  Thank you to everyone who joined us for Mass. Please know all are welcome each week.

Technology Use

Each classroom will utilize technology through a variety of ways.  We need parental permission for students to use the available technology.  If you have not done so already, please complete the following form:

SafeStudents Online

This is for our families with students in grades 5-8.  We have sent follow up email invites. We are looking to get 100% participation.  If you have not enrolled, please do so. If you did not receive a welcome email, please check your SPAM folder in you email, and if it is not there, please let me (quilicit@stjoes.com) or Mrs. Porter (porterc@stjoes.com) know and we can send you a link that will allow you to access SafeStudents Online.  

These accounts are per family, so if you have older students in high school, you can add these students as well.

This is a program that Catholic schools back East have been using for grades 5-8, and their families love it.  This is to build trust between parents and students. Many of you have shared that you search through student phones, and this will do the searching for you and only alert you of worrisome material.  This also hopefully addresses and concerns students have about spying on them. The goal is to coach and provide students a safer and healthier online experience and provide open communication between parents and students.  The school does not get alerts; the alerts go to the parents. Please register and join us in piloting SafeStudents Online to provide a true and honest assessment of its use and application for our community. All you need to do is sit down with your student(s) and take less than 5 minutes to set it up.

PlusPortals (Grades/Attendance)

Emails with access to PlusPortals have been sent.  If you have not logged in, you can do so following the instructions in the email.  If you have not received an email, please let Mrs. Granvall know by calling (208-342-4909) or emailing (granvalla@stjoes.com).  There is a free app called ParentPlus that you can add to your phone.

School Directory

PlusPortals has a digital directory for staff, students, and parents.  Student name, homeroom, and gender are available. Parent name, email, phone, and address are available.  If you do not want this information available in the school directory, select your name in the top right, select Directory Listing, uncheck to list information in the school directory.

PayForIt.Net

An email for each new student has been sent.  This email has the student name and an ID number to add the student to your PayForIt.Net account.  This account will allow parents to view transactions and balances and even add payment via credit card on a secure website.  The link to PayForIt.Net can be found on the school website under Quick Links and Food Calendar and from PlusPortals under School Links and Files.

Once an account is created, you can select “My Account” from the menu bar across the top and then select “My Email Options” and you can choose to get low balance emails, set the amount for a low balance email, and choose to receive regular balance emails.  Select “Update” when done to save changes. If you have a new student and did not receive this email, please call the school or email Mrs. Granvall (granvalla@stjoes.com).  Once an account is established, there is a free app to monitor and use on phones and devices.  Credit card information is required to establish the account, but money does have to be transacted.  Lunch money can be added through the Front Office using cash and check.

Drop Off Before School

Due to the construction on the steps on the St. John’s Cathedral steps, the drive-up and drop off lane on 8th St. will be shifted from in front of the steps to past the alley in front of the gymnasium.  Link to Morning Drop Off Procedures

Pick Up After School

Kindergarten, first grade, and second grade students will be checked out by their respective teachers in the classrooms.  Second grade is included this year due to the construction on the steps. Parents, family, and guardians picking up students will enter and leave from the school’s main entrance.  The last bell of the day rings at 3:00 pm.  We have closure prayer, and then students are dismissed.
