Principal’s Post – 9/22/17

Mrs. Cox’s reflection from this week: “Father Jerry reflected on our duty to work as a Catholic community to draw us nearer to God and Jesus. We work together as a parish with our deacons, priests, bishops, and pope to grow in our faith.

Thank you to everyone who celebrated Mass with us this week. May everyone always feel welcome to join us for Mass.

Coming Soon: the website linked to Rediker (PlusPortals) where parents can add their students, track transactions and balances, and add money to accounts. Parents need a unique ID number to add their student(s), and we are working to identify an efficient way to share these numbers with families.

Kitchen Update

The project started yesterday. However, the lines are in a different location of the kitchen. We will be able to get hot lunch up and going even with this project underway. We will have a full service hot lunch program starting today. There was a separate email with hot lunch information sent out yesterday. We will share information regarding access to the school as it shifts. Use caution and avoid areas closed off with caution tape.

Idaho Catholic Register

If you have not seen a copy of the most recent Idaho Catholic Register, a photo from our first Mass of the year is on the cover and there is a story covering it inside.

MAP Testing:

The MAP Testing schedule has been shifted due to issues with NWEA (the testing provider and their service). We were contacted and ask not to test today in order for MAP to correct the issues schools were having during testing. The 5th and 7th grade students will take Science MAP tests tomorrow, and grades 2-8 will take the Math MAP test Monday. Make-up tests for absent students will also take place next week.

Picture Day Retakes

Thursday, October 19 from 8:30-9:30

If you would like your student to get their picture retaken:

  • Please email Mrs. Granvall to get your student on the list
  • Send your student to school with the picture packet

If you would like to purchase pictures and you did not, you can order again on this day

  • If your student was absent, they can get their picture take and order pictures

***It will take two weeks for Parker Portraits to get the pictures to St. Joseph’s to send home.***

PlusPortals has a digital directory for staff, students, and parents. Student name, homeroom, and gender are available.  Parent name, email, phone, and address are available. If you do not want this information available in the school directory, select your name in the top right, select Directory Listing, uncheck to list information in the school directory.

More Construction Fun

The construction on the Hays steps for the Cathedral is underway. This project is expected to go into December. The sidewalk near the steps will be closed when work is being done.

The 8th St. steps are projected to start late spring/early summer and will go into the start of the 2018-2019 school year.

Bravely act like a saint today!
