The St. Joseph’s Parents Association (SJPA) is responsible for fundraising and coordinating a strong and active volunteer program. As a St. Joe’s parent, you are automatically an SJPA member and part of this wonderful parent-led organization.
All are welcome to attend SJPA’s monthly meetings, generally held the third Tuesday of each month. Please check the school’s weekly newsletter for more details on date, time and location.
Get Involved!
The school relies heavily on volunteers to conduct its many activities in and out of the classroom, including fundraising. Volunteer programs range from organizing and implementing various annual fundraisers to volunteering for school day activities such as room parents, lunch helpers, field trip drivers etc. All volunteers who work directly with students are required to attend a “Safe Environment Workshop” and have a criminal background check.

St. Joseph’s School requires each family to volunteer a minimum of 25 hours or more during the course of the school year, five hours of which are related to fund-raising activities. In addition, all volunteers who work directly with students are required to attend a “Safe Environment Workshop” and have a criminal background check. The Diocese of Boise now requires this to be renewed each year. This can be done online using CMG Connect.

How does the SJPA benefit the school?
Volunteerism at St. Joseph’s School provides an opportunity to:
- Involve parents actively in the school and the education of their children.
- Allow teachers to spend more time directly with the children.
- The funds raised by the SJPA during the school year are used to forward fund the school operating budget. SJPA pledges funds each year to the operating budget based on the funds raised the prior year. This practices helps with the budgeting process for school administration. The goal is to raise as much money as possible to help minimize school tuition.
The SJPA requires each family to volunteer a minimum of 25 hours or more during the course of the school year; 5 of these hours must be dedicated to fundraising. There are many volunteer activities available, so parents may choose activities that interest them and utilize their skills. For parents who work outside the home, we have activities that can be done at home or on the weekends. We encourage both moms and dads to participate in our programs. If a parent has questions or concerns about the volunteer commitment, please contact any SJPA board member.
